Enjoy a performance paying homage to such originators of Latin Jazz such as Cal Tjader and Mongo Santamaria, as well as original music in the same style.

Raíces was founded by Chicago percussionist Rubén Alvarez and is currently led by vibraphonist Joe Sonnefeldt. Their debut album features eight original compositions in Cha-Cha-Cha, Afro 6/8, Mambo, Bolero, Songo, and more styles.

Raíces features Joe Sonnefeldt on vibes, Bobby Delgado on timbales, Jorge Leal on congas, Stuart Seale on piano, and Eric Ferrer on bass.

This concert is being underwritten by a generous grant from the Music Performance Trust Fund of The American Federation of Musicians and is part of the WDCB Jazz Jammin’ in the Stacks’ series.
