The Geothermal Alliance of Illinois (GAOI), Citizens Utility Board (CUB), and Midwest Renewable Energy Association present an informative session on geothermal heat pumps.

You'll also learn about the environmental benefits of geothermal heat pumps. This presentation is presented in collaboration with the Skokie Sustainable Environment Advisory Commission.

Speaker John Freitag is the executive director of the Geothermal Alliance of Illinois, the state trade association for the geothermal heat pump industry. He is a 32-year veteran of the electric utility industry, retiring from the Illinois electric cooperatives in 2017. Freitag was instrumental in the start up of the GAOI in 2008. He lives in Springfield, where his home has had geothermal heating and cooling since 1999. An advocate of energy efficiency and renewable energy, Freitag has had a solar rooftop PV system at his home for the past 10 years as well. He has served on a number of boards and commissions, and is currently a member of the board of trustees of the Lincoln Academy of Illinois.
