Cosmos Room

Read and discuss this book about the Wampanoag and the complicated history of Thanksgiving.

The Wampanoag people have long been flattened as the generic "Indians" of the First Thanksgiving. This Land Is Their Land tells the very human stories of Tisquantum, enigmatic man between worlds; Pumetacom, destined to be remembered by the English name "King Philip"; John Sassamon, Harvard-trained diplomat, translator, and intriguer; Rev. William Apess, whose writings against a racist nation reflected those of the Abolitionist movement; and Frank James, who for decades kept a lonely vigil at Plimoth Plantation each Thanksgiving Day.

This book is available in print, audiobook and eBook format.

Limited to 12 in-person participants who must follow the library's pandemic safety guidance.
