ELL Literacy Circle

Have you ever wanted to be part of a library book discussion group, but worried that your English language skills were not strong enough?

In this ELL Literacy Circle for high-intermediate and advanced-level English learners, we will read and discuss an American novel with the support of Margaret Feit Clarke, an experienced ESL teacher from the ELL Parent Center. Participants will strengthen their language skills while learning more about great literature, American culture, and the Skokie community. Limited to 16 participants.

Registration starts September 1 and closes September 12, 2022. The group will meet every Tuesday for 14 weeks: September 13-December 13.

The book is Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred D. Taylor--the story of a young girl and her courageous family living in the American South during the Great Depression.

Books will be provided at the first meeting and are for participants to read and keep.
