Young Steinway Concert

Matthew Kim, Violin, and Kashyap Prasad, Piano

Our concerts feature talented young classical musicians. Today, hear violinist Matthew Kim and pianist Kashyap Prasad.

Matthew is a junior at Whitney M. Young Magnet High School and studies violin with Sang Mee Lee. He has been a member of Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestras since 2015, having served as concertmaster of both the Debut and Concert Orchestras. He was awarded second prize in the junior division of the 2022 Society of American Musicians Violin Competition.

Kashyap, a senior at Lake Forest High School, studies piano with Matt Hagle. He also plays viola in his school orchestra. Kashyap won first place in the open senior division of the 2022 Walgreens National Concerto Competition and honorable mention with distinction in the 2023 DePaul National Concerto Competition for Young Performers.

Free tickets will be given out starting at 2:30 pm to persons who are present.
