This Bhutanese film made the Best International Feature Film shortlist for the 96th Academy Awards. Set in 2006, Bhutan has just become the world’s youngest democracy, and the government is holding mock elections to teach citizens how to vote.

Meanwhile, an American travels to Bhutan to track down a rare firearm used in the Civil War. The rifle is also wanted by the Chief Lama of a small village, hoping to use it to make things right.

Starring Tandin Wangchuk, Deki Lhamo, and Pema Zangmo Sherpa. Written and directed by Pawo Choyning Dorji.
