Strong relationships and connections are vital to the mental health of children and teens, especially during unsettled times.

Young people and their caregivers can connect with neighbors and community mental health resources as we reflect on how we are managing these days, and how we are processing the thoughts, feelings, and images we’re experiencing. Counselors from Turning Point and staff from the library will facilitate sessions to connect community members with resources and one another.

Following a brief introduction, there is a choice of four breakout sessions:

  • For kids and teens: making art with an art therapist and library staff (paper and pencil required, pens and coloring supplies optional)
  • For kids up to age 12 with an adult caregiver: group conversation with a counselor
  • For teens ages 13-18: group conversation with a counselor
  • For parents/caregivers: group conversation with a counselor about how to support children

When you register, you will be asked to select which breakout session you would like to attend. If you are registering multiple people who will each attend a different breakout session, please use a unique email address for each registrant. Breakout room participation will be tied to the email address you will use to log in to the event on Zoom.

Registration closed at 5 pm the day of the event. If you have questions about this event after registration has closed, please email the events team.

This event is in partnership with Turning Point Behavioral Health Care Center and cosponsored by Skokie Cares.
