In the days after Hurricane Katrina, Abdulrahman Zeitoun traveled the flooded streets of New Orleans in a secondhand canoe.

Zeitoun passed on supplies and helped those he could. A week later, on September 6, 2005, Zeitoun abruptly disappeared, arrested and accused of being an agent of al Qaeda. Dave Eggers' book explores Zeitoun's life leading up to this moment and afterward.
